What is a normal temperature for a newborn?

My sister and I took the baby's temp. earlier today and it was 98.7...we pulled off his blanket. We just took it again right now, because he woke up with a very sweaty back. Anyway, it was 97.7.
We don't really know the right temps. for a newborn, so could anybody tell me what the normal temp. is for him?

We took his temp. with a thermometer pacifier.

A baby's temperature should be around 98.5. If your baby is under 3 months and has a temperature over 100.4 then you need to call the doctor, and if your 3 month old or older has a temperature over 101 then you need to call the doctor.
